Hot trend - Damask

Every season I find myself falling in love with new linens,decor,invitations, colors and themes. This season my FAVORITE thing has to be Damask. I love how you can incorporate it with your wedding. Beautiful damask linens with touches infused throughout your wedding decor. Just to give you some ideas of having all your paper goods - invites,table numbers, programs and menus should be consistent.So why not add a bit of damask to set the stage? I would have to say damask with cornflower blue is just gorgeous. LOVE IT. See the inspiration board below to give you some ideas on how to make it pop. If you feel it's too over the top for you, even some small key pieces can set the tone. You don't have to go overboard with the damask pattern, you don't want a dizzy bride on your hands do you?

IPOD Weddings - Oh No

I ALWAYS discourage couples from using an IPOD for weddings.You can save money doing this but is it worth the headache? Sure they are handy for trips and for the gym but I would have to say NO to weddings. I have been a guest at weddings and have seen this time and time again of all the things that can go wrong with having an IPOD wedding. Why risk it for your big day?Use an IPOD for your next Birthday party, not your wedding day. Hire a DJ, that's what they do best. Provide you and your guests music and entertainment. Don't leave it up to one of your friends to handle the music,that's what professionals are for.

Creamy JELL-O Layers

Look at these pink beauties. Not only are they good and pretty to look at but very easy to make. Only 3 ingredients and that's with the garnish. Cool Whip & Jello have teamed up for this very worth while charity so just think when you are reaching over for your 3rd dessert you are helping a fantastic cause. YUMMY.

Prep Time:10 min
Total Time:40 min
Makes:4

1 pkg. (85 g) JELL-O Jelly Powder, any flavour
1-1/2 cups boiling water
2-1/4 cups COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, not thawed, divided

DISSOLVE jelly powder in boiling water.
ADD 2 cups of the frozen whipped topping; stir with wire whisk until well blended. Pour evenly into 4 individual dessert dishes.

REFRIGERATE 30 min. or until set. Meanwhile, place remaining 1/4 cup whipped topping in refrigerator to thaw for later use. Spoon evenly over desserts just before serving.

Unique & Grand Entrances for your reception

So we have seen lots of couples have a choreographed first dance. It's great to have a professional put that together for you and a fun way to personalize your wedding. Recently the trend has been Grand entrances...you know when the MC announced the new Mrs & Mrs into the reception,we are no longer see-ing the basic and boring of couples just walking in and taking there seats or doing their first dance - YAWN. We are now see-ing some fantastic entrances and something else for your guests to talk and rave about to other's.

I recently did a wedding at the swanky Hotel Arts for a very lovely couple that I enjoyed working with.From the food,ambiance and every little detail was taken care of for all the guests. The couple wanted to do something unique when entering there reception. The lights all went out and then went back on to very dim, the couple entered & sat at their table after being announced. Very basic, right? Then the double doors opened to the reception.. As a surprise, no one knew about this surprise except the couple and there wedding planner.We hired Asian drummers,dancers and a dragon. Yes, the huge dragon that you see in parades. The drumming was loud,the dancing and the dragon were out of this world. They put on a 20 minute presentation, or what I like to call "An Asian Experience". Everyone was speechless and when it was finally done, many people stood and clapped and hollered, it was that beautiful to see and very unique. The groom wanted a bit of his Asian culture infused in his wedding and not only achieved that but also achieved having something very grand. I didn't take any pictures because it was so busy however the photographer had assured me she caught quiet a few of the entrance and expression on guests faces. As soon as I receive them I will make sure to post them on the blog so you can see for yourself how beautiful it really was.

I love the trend of couples making unique entrances and lately I have heard from my alumni (Wedding Planners Association) of the couples they have worked with who also are also embracing this trend. They shared with me what they have witnessed,orchestrated or been involved with on Grand entrances. Some great ideas

Belly dancing for a recent Egyptian wedding that lead the bride and groom in
Hiring the local school's band department and having them lead the bride and groom in by song.
Star Wars theme music and walked under lots of light saber. (Couple are Star Wars fans- obviously)
Kids hired from the Ballet group to preform after couples entrance since they both love the arts.

The possibilities are endless. You can incorporate your culture,both cultures or a love for a certain hobby. The entrance should be as unique as the couple and should be personalized to you.

It certainly gets the crowd excited and makes a statement. and you can't go wrong with wanting to do something a bit different. Whether it's formal or wild and wacky. After all it's your big day and you want to it to be special and like some of us, want to be the talk of the town.

Add some flair and personality to your big day and have your guests talking about it for months....if not years.

Canadian designer Adele Wechsler launches a new line of gorgeous and eco-friendly wedding gowns.
Adele Wechsler’s" Eco Couture" collection recently made an appearance. Adele's eco-friendly gowns are made using local production and fair trade wages. Furthermore, Wechsler sources chemical-free fabrics such as organic hemp and silk blends coloured with vegetable dyes. Many of the exquisitely detailed gowns also incorporate scraps of silk and lace that would otherwise be thrown away.

As in previous collections, Wechsler concentrates on modern, elegant silhouettes that are figure flattering. Indeed, these gowns are so gorgeous the fact that they’re green is merely a bonus.

Adele Wechsler is located in Toronto & has a showroom. It seems it's the only retailer in Canada that carries any of her dresses however many US stores carry them? Check out her website to see all her beautiful items. Looks like they will be available at select retail outlets across Canada soon.

Why hire a wedding planner or day of coordinator?

For most Brides their impression of a Wedding Planner begins with a media stereotype, pretentious detail and an over-inflated budget. But that stereotype couldn't’t be further from the truth as one out of every two weddings in the US utilizes a Wedding Planner.
